Children with Special Needs Program
For well over 10 years the Maroondah Indoor Sports Centre has been successfully running our Aussie Hoops program. Aussie Hoops is an initiative of Basketball Australia and is a fun filled skill development program designed to introduce kids to the terrific sport of basketball.
Since the programs inception Maroondah Indoor Sports Centre has introduced over 6000 young children to basketball. With the support of our enthusiastic coaches, we are proud of the growth our Aussie Hoops program has experienced over the years and the opportunity this provides for the local community.
In term 3 2010, the Maroondah Indoor Sports Centre is excited to launch our Aussie Hoops Access for All Abilities program. Developed from our successful Aussie Hoops program, the 'Access for All Abilities' will allow children with special needs to enjoy the benefits of an active healthy lifestyle.
Through the means of basketball, participants will develop important coordination skills, motor skills and social skills. Our vibrant and supportive team of coaches will use a number of teaching aids to enhance the delivery of the program and to maximise the interaction of all participants.
